The Global Alliance on Health and Pollution is a network of 65+ international and national level agencies committed to a collaborative, multi-sectoral approach to address the global pollution crisis and the resulting health and economic impacts. GAHP regularly collaborates with country government Ministries of Health and Environment, United Nations agencies, academia, the private sector, and civil society to raise awareness of the effects of pollution on health.
The alarming data from the Lancet Commission on Pollution and Health of 2017 publication identified pollution as the most significant environmental cause of premature death on the planet, responsible for 9 million deaths each year. Air pollution is responsible for around 4-5 million deaths, with 2 million of the 9 million attributable to chemical exposure alone. (Update publication scheduled for Mid- 2022)
This event will showcase how a multisectoral approach can work along for engaging in the process of combating the impacts of pollution to human health.
